Who publishes this site

The pages on this site are published by Smart Laser Eye Center, Nişantaşı, İstanbul. They describe the eye conditions we treat and the procedures we perform.

What these pages are — and are not

Every treatment and condition page carries the same statement: it is general information, not a diagnosis and not a treatment recommendation. Whether a treatment suits a particular eye can only be established by an eye examination and that patient’s own measurements. Nothing on this site replaces a consultation, and nothing on it should be read as a promise of a visual result.

Who writes and who reviews

Pages are written and edited by the Smart Laser Eye Center Editorial Staff. A named ophthalmologist from our clinic then reviews the medical content of the page; the reviewer’s name appears at the top of the page and links to that surgeon’s own profile. The author and the reviewer are deliberately not the same person — review means a second pair of eyes, and a page reviewed by its own writer would not have been reviewed at all.

The physician named on a page is the one who performs that treatment in our clinic:

• Dr. Alim Huseynov — laser vision correction, keratoconus and cross-linking, ocular surface disease, and oculoplastic surgery.
• Prof. Dr. Fevzi Senturk — retinal disease and lens surgery.
• Prof. Dr. Levent Alimgil — cornea transplantation, glaucoma, and lens surgery.

The Editorial Staff

The Editorial Staff is the clinic’s own editorial group; it is not an outside body and we do not describe it as independent peer review. Its members are Prof. Dr. Fevzi Senturk, Prof. Dr. Levent Alimgil, Prof. Dr. Afsun Sahin and Dr. Alim Huseynov.

Membership of this group and the review of an individual page are two different things. The reviewer named in a page’s credit line is always the physician who performs that treatment, and only that name appears there — being a member of the Editorial Staff does not mean a physician has reviewed every page.

Where our statements come from

Where a page states a clinical figure taken from the literature, we give the source next to it — author, year, journal and a DOI link — so that the reader can check it. Where a figure comes from our own clinic’s records rather than from published literature, we say so in the same sentence, because a single clinic’s series and a published average are not the same kind of evidence, and a patient is entitled to know which one is being quoted. Our own figures describe what happened in the patients we treated; they cannot predict the result of an individual treatment.

What we do not publish

We do not promise outcomes, we do not describe any procedure as risk-free or painless, and we do not claim that our software decides anything: RLES AI® is decision-support used before surgery, and the treatment decision rests with the surgeon.

Patient comments

Some pages carry comments from patients. These are personal experiences, they are not clinical evidence, and no individual result should be expected from them.

Updating and corrections

Each page shows the date it was last updated. We update a page whenever a device, a protocol or a clinical threshold we describe changes. If you believe something on this site is inaccurate or out of date, write to us through our contact form, giving the address of the page; we answer correction requests within 5 working days, and if a correction is made the page’s update date changes with it.
